Rainbow Six: Siege | Video Game Review

So far, I bought this game on Xbox One for $30 (digital), PC for $20.19 via CDKeys for uPlay and then again for $24.99 via Steam during the Steam Winter Sale of 2016. Since I’ve been playing the PC version the most, I bought both passes, the Year 1 Season Pass for $15 and the Year 2 Season Pass at $30 (standard price). I spent $120.18 in total, without paying any micro-transactions, probably the most I ever spent on any game, ever. That should tell you how great this game is. Or just addicting. Either one.
For those wondering, I bought the Steam version even though it runs through uPlay, which I already had a copy of because I wanted the ‘game played hours’ on my account :3 (I’m weird, I know). But I’m not ashamed of it because Ubisoft actually created a truly remarkable game, so why not give them money to support the game in the long run?
I played the Xbox One version for about 4 months (May— August) before I bought the PC version via uPlay. I never bought it before hand because of the $60 price tag… Which I’m now laughing at (since I now have paid $120). The game wasn’t bad at all using a controller, it was usable, but ever since I was putting money towards PC build, Siege was missing something. A mouse. So after playing the game for 1 1/2 seasons and reaching Gold 3, I put my Xbox One towel up and started my journey on PC.
I saw this game grow by taking part in Alpha/Beta tests to a game that no one really liked back in 2015, to now being a game that can reach top 10 on Twitch just a year later.
Gameplay wise, it’s truly remarkable. You can blow up walls, ceilings and so much more. Every operator is different, each has a different play style and a different special ability. Every season, Ubisoft releases 2 new Operators and 1 new map changing up the game even more. At one point, you can be versing a 1 v 3, but if the enemy sucks, you can easily win if you have well placed traps, etc. You literally need to put yourself in the enemy shoes and predict where they will go, if not, you may lose the round and/or match.
Because Ubisoft releases 2 new Operators and 1 map each season. That means, this game is continuously getting patches and updates to even furthermore make the game better.
Singleplayer? It kinda has a singleplayer, but not really. There called ‘Situations.’ For new players, you can easily hop into these missions and see how each original Operator plays out and see how each one can be beneficial for the team. If you complete all the situations also, you can easily unlock a Operator for Online use, if your new to the game of course.
The only thing I dislike about this game is the ranking system. It’s completely shit. In 2 or 3 straight win games, you go from Silver 4 to Gold 1, but once you get Gold 1 and if you lose 1 game, you can easily get deranked back to Silver 4. Have shit teammates each match? You can get deranked all the way to Bronze. Of course, this ranking system is in Beta, but couldn’t this be fixed by now?
My Review Score: 9/10
