XField Paintball 3 | Video Game Review
Note: I did get this game for free (Review copy). Getting the game for free doesn’t affect my review at all.
XField Paintball 3 is a modern Greg Hastings Paintball?
In it’s current state, XField Paintball 3 has one gamemode in quickplay and it’s a “5v5” gamemode (Elimination). These matches last around 7 minutes in total (from start to end), if your team is good. Paintball is a talk coordinated game and yet no one talks. Maybe they just don’t know the keybind?
In the current build, XField Paintball 3 feels like an Early Access game, but it’s not. You’re paying $29.99 for 1 gamemode.
Sadly, at the moment you can’t create your own fields. When they do, I hope they allow Steam Workshop support so that we can download other users fields, gamemodes, etc.
Right now, it’s a “No” from me. I’m hoping that the game can push out some updates.
Is it a modern Greg Hastings Paintball? Currently, I’m in shock they released this. I would have delayed the game.
P.S. Because of it’s current state. It’s not even ready for eSports.

Pros:
- The graphics are decent
- Real life partnerships with Paintball companies
Cons:
- 0 graphic settings
- You can’t change the keybind to talk (would love to set it to a mouse button).
- Website says the game has a server browser? It doesn’t.
- You can’t spectate teammates.
- Sprinting feels slow?
- Game in general feels clunky?
- Only 1 gamemode
- The in-game/match music when playing is horrible. Rap music?
- When changing setting in-game/match, you can ‘save’ the settings. Weird bug
- Only 1 mouse setting in the main menu, “invert.” 0 settings to change sensitivity. Once you get in-game/match, you can change it.
- The font in chat and within the in-game UI is hard to see.
- Game resets keybinds when reopening it? Weird bug
- When you search for a game, the music just goes away.
- You can’t change languages.
- You can’t change your paintball ‘equipment.’
- Right now, only quick play (maybe because of the level?). You can’t do local or ranked matches.
Suggestions:
- When you get “out,” I would love for an announcer to yell “OUT!”
- Fix all the cons I listed
- Enable us to mute the in-match music.
- Add a tutorial for captains? Or is it just laggy/buggy at the moment?
- Would love to see different weather like rain, snow, etc.
- Add the ability to press ‘tab’ to view the score board?

1) Game got updated and they removed 5v5. Now it’s a 2v2 gamemode (Elimination).
